On April 8, 2026, Art Island: Zhang Zhaoying’s Contemporary Painting Exhibition opened at K·Gallery. Curated by the renowned curator and art historian Lü Peng, the exhibition presents a number of the artist’s recent works, including key pieces previously shown in his recent solo exhibition at the Palazzo Grimani Museum in Venice.
The exhibition takes its title, Art Island , from one of the featured paintings, Eastern Story—Art Island , while also serving as a conceptual metaphor. It evokes a floating, autonomous “island” of creation constructed by Zhang Zhaoying across image, history, and reality—an imaginative space in which different temporalities and visual narratives intersect.
